I'm saddened to report that our former coach and teacher, Richard "Lou" Sabin passed the morning of January 11, 2024. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, February 3rd at 11:00 AM at Central Christian Church, 6161 22nd Ave N, St Petersburg. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to Central Christian Church with a notation "In memory of Richard Sabin". I'll add an obituary link to our site if I find one.

From BJ Johnson: I have spoken to a family member of Coach Sabin, and was informed that Lou passed away after complications from foot and vein surgery. I am grateful that several of us were in fairly regular contact with Lou. He always was interested to see what had become of members of the Lakewood HS community, and his time there was a highlight of his life. I know that several of his old players and students are planning to attend the 2/3/24 service. It is an opportunity to pay resepcts to Coach Sabin and family, and also re-connecting with former classmates and teammates. Hope to see you there.
